Pressure measurement principles and common methods

1. Principle of pressure measurement

Pressure is the force per unit area, measured in Pascal (Pa). The principle of pressure measurement is based on the principle of pressure strength discovered in scientific experiments, that is, when an object exerts force on another object, a pressure will be generated on the area of force action.

Commonly used pressure measurement principles include: capacitive sensors, resistive sensors, thermal conductivity sensors, thermocouple sensors, load sensors, etc. Among them, capacitive sensors and resistive sensors are the most commonly used pressure sensors, which use electronic technology to convert physical quantities into electrical signals and perform digital processing through computers or monitors.

2. Commonly used pressure measurement methods

1. Mercury manometer method

The mercury manometer method is a traditional pressure measurement method that uses atmospheric pressure as a reference for measurement. Mercury is injected into a glass capillary, the capillary is placed in a pressure compensation chamber above the mercury level, and then the air pressure is measured according to the height of the mercury column to measure the pressure.

2. Gas manometer method

The gas manometer method uses the characteristics of gas to measure pressure. Usually, a certain amount of gas is installed in a closed space, and the pressure is calculated by measuring the volume and temperature of the gas.

3. Electronic manometer method

The electronic manometer method is an electronic technology measurement method. It uses capacitive sensors, resistive sensors and other devices to convert physical pressure into electrical signals, and then digitally processes them through digital displays or computers and other devices to accurately measure various types of pressure.

III. Precautions

1. When using a pressure sensor, pay attention to selecting the correct pressure range to avoid errors.

2. When the ambient temperature changes, the measuring equipment should be recalibrated to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.

3. When measuring pressure, avoid direct contact with the pressure object to avoid problems such as transient overpressure or vibration.

4. When using an electronic manometer to measure high-pressure or high-temperature objects, pay attention to prevent problems such as damage to electrical components and equipment failure.

In short, pressure measurement technology plays a very important role in modern industry. Understanding the principles, common methods and precautions of pressure measurement is of great significance for carrying out work and research in related fields.
